Miami, FL, United States (4E) – MS Symphony of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise and passenger ship based mostly on gross tonnage, will sail on her first official maiden voyage with paying passengers on April 7.
The maiden journey will depart Barcelona Saturday night and take passengers on a five-day voyage to Italy with stops in Naples and Civitavecchia, the port for Rome. On October 28, she is going to deploy to her residence port of Miami and can start Caribbean cruises in November.
Operated by Royal Caribbean International, Symphony can maintain as much as 6,680 passengers and sails with a crew of two,200. The ship is the fourth ship within the Oasis-class and displaces 228,081 tons.
Among the brand new options on Symphony are a first-of-its-kind, two-deck-high household suite with a slide between flooring; a revamped Boardwalk amusement space; a brand new laser tag attraction and a brand new Royal Caribbean seafood restaurant. Symphony additionally has extra cabins than its sister ship, Harmony of the Seas, which beforehand held the document because the world’s largest cruise ship.
Symphony was constructed beginning 2015 on the big STX France shipyard in St. Nazaire, France, the identical shipyard that constructed Harmony. She was delivered to Royal Caribbean on March 23 and has spent the previous week outfitting for her maiden voyage.
Symphony and Harmony are the largest ships in Royal Caribbean’s Oasis-class. The two different Oasis-class ships, Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas, debuted in 2009 and 2010.
All Oasis-class ships exceed 225,000 tons in displacement, greater than 30% bigger than the following largest cruise vessels. The addition of Symphony brings Royal Caribbean’s fleet to 25 ships.
